New Single – ‘Someone’ – In aid of Samaritans
New single ‘Someone’ in aid of Samaritans out now
A special single version of ‘Someone’ has been released across streaming platforms today with all profits to be donated to Samaritans, an incredibly important charity in these difficult times of isolation, anxiety and uncertainty for so many people. The message of the song seemed fitting to raise awareness of an organisation who work hard to make sure there’s always someone there for anyone who needs it.
The idea is that people will use the song as a way of reaching out, so we are encouraging people to not only stream it and buy the download for themselves, but also use the ‘send as gift’ feature on Bandcamp to pass it on to anyone you feel might need to know they have a friend right now. You can also choose to pay extra if you wish.
The single’s artwork features a fantastic illustration by Kevin Mc Hugh Art and by teaming up with Hollow Hill Apparel, we are also offering some very special merchandise to help raise more funds.

New Video – ‘The Race Is On’
Happy Friday folks… We may have to stay in tonight, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still have a jive. Here’s ‘The Race Is On’, from the recently released covers EP ‘4 x 4 x 1’ that I made with Gary Pennick and some other great musicians during the lockdown.

New Release – ‘4 x 4 x 1’ – The first in a series of covers EPs
Surprise release – ‘4 x 4 x 1‘ – The first in a series of covers EPs
Here we have it… I’ve been collaborating with my good friend and bandmate Gary Pennick, through the wonders of technology, and we’ve been busy. Plans to do a covers project began before Christmas, while Gaz and myself were on a pub crawl around York. We thought we could have some fun recording songs we love and settled on the style of country rock. Not for purists by any means though, more for fans of rock n’ roll with a country twang. The lockdown has given us the time to get it off the ground, with this first EP, ‘4 x 4 x 1’ – 4 songs by 4 different artists.
As things progressed, we realised we needed to get a few more people involved who could work remotely, to do the songs justice. We reached out and got some incredibly talented musicians on board. The lineup on this EP features myself on acoustic guitar, upright bass, harmonica and vocals, Gaz on acoustic/electric guitars and backing vocals, Simon Hanson on drums, Barnaby Southgate on piano and accordion, Aaron Connelly on piano and organ, plus my brother Phil Cassidy on mandolin.
‘4 x 4 x 1’ is available on Bandcamp now, a fantastic platform for supporting independent artists during this difficult time, as you can pay more for the release if you wish. Today in particular, they are waving their revenue share, so please support any bands you love on there if you can.
I’m also putting the finishing touches to my other lockdown project, ‘The Isolation Tapes‘, a 10 track acoustic record of new original songs which you can pre-order now on digital, CD and with exclusive hand painted Lyric Art (just a few remaining).
Anyway, we hope this helps kill the quarantine blues for a little while…
